Stand Up For Seaton (SU4S)

Community Action for Seaton's Regeneration Area, 80% owned by Tesco - a floodplain on a World Heritage site bordered by nature reserves, tidal river, the sea and the unspoilt town. SU4S is a state of mind - no members, no structure, no politics. SU4S has objected to 2 planning applications by Tesco, including one for a massive superstore/dot com distribution centre which led to the recent closure on the site of 400 tourist beds with the loss of 150 jobs,a gym and pool - all used by locals.

RIP Lyme Bay Holiday Village

RIP LYME BAY HOLIDAY VILLAGE
RIP 400-500 TOURISTS IN SEATON EVERY NIGHT
RIP SEATON'S ONLY GYM
RIP SEATON'S ONLY POOL
RIP 150 JOBS

HELLO DEAD TOWN
HELLO NO TOURISTS
HELLO UNHEALTHY PEOPLE
HELLO NOTHING TO DO AND NOWHERE TO GO IN SEATON

HELLO MORE UNEMPLOYMENT

So, where is the White Knight we were promised who would lead us all out of this?

I've just had my last swim in the pool. It's very sad.
What a waste!
What a loss.
And, yes Tesco, we have "been lucky to have had them", and how much poorer we'll be without the camp and all it means to the town. With no replacements for anything that the town is losing in the foreseeable future. The future looks bleak.

Didn't Tesco say that there was no need to worry about the camp closing in January, as they would have planning permission and be starting work on the site straight away?

Ah, but what they meant was that the work that would be starting immediately would be demolition!

According to someone at the village, there is now 6 weeks for the former owner to get rid of all the stuff on site then the Tesco demolition team - who have already made visits - move in and make a start on levelling the site presumably leaving the nursery surrounded by a sea of mud.
