Stand Up For Seaton (SU4S)

Community Action for Seaton's Regeneration Area, 80% owned by Tesco - a floodplain on a World Heritage site bordered by nature reserves, tidal river, the sea and the unspoilt town. SU4S is a state of mind - no members, no structure, no politics. SU4S has objected to 2 planning applications by Tesco, including one for a massive superstore/dot com distribution centre which led to the recent closure on the site of 400 tourist beds with the loss of 150 jobs,a gym and pool - all used by locals.

Where are the Terry Dinham plans promised for the web?

In Terry Dinham's press release which accompanied the planning application on 4 December 2006 it states

For further information visit http://www.seatonplan.info

I have tried this site every day since 4 December 2006 and each day I get a black screen with "Under Construction" on it. This deprives us all of seeing something of which Terry Dinham is proud. Why?

I notice the overall expiry date for consultation is set at 28/12 - although we have been told we have longer. Also that no letters have yet been sent to Seaton households.

Clealry another example of the "extensive consultation" there has been to date.

The consultation period for the community is until 26 JANUARY 2007 - it has been extended because of the "complexity" of the application. I was told that 4,000 letters are being sent out to everyone in Seaton about it asking them if they wish to object.

website still not working, papers not in Seaton when I checked yesterday - why do I get the idea that people are not being given a proper opportunity to study the information?

Friday 8th, 6p.m. and still it's "website under construction"!
What's going on here! They couldn't possibly be waiting until folk are too bogged down in Christmas, could they? That would just be too, too cynical of me, wouldn't it!

Sunday 10th and still no website. Ah well - there is a non technical paper on the Demon District Council website so I guess we know what it will say. Up to 90 lorries a day bringing in material for the site and lots of part time jobs in the supermarket and visitors centre - forget the ones in the cafes, bars, taxi service we'll have lost with the tourist trade.

No website...ah well, we'll have to read the hardcopy for some of this anyway, it's not that legible on the eddc site.

Tuesday 12th.
You guessed it.
Still under construction
Nevermind, today we can read TD's comments in the View. Just how big is this Visitor Centre? Tardis is right, Sandra.
Let's not forget Martyn Harrison's comments as well. Here's me thinking that the "grey" market is an expanding one. I wonder how much he gets out of the sale.
