Stand Up For Seaton (SU4S)

Community Action for Seaton's Regeneration Area, 80% owned by Tesco - a floodplain on a World Heritage site bordered by nature reserves, tidal river, the sea and the unspoilt town. SU4S is a state of mind - no members, no structure, no politics. SU4S has objected to 2 planning applications by Tesco, including one for a massive superstore/dot com distribution centre which led to the recent closure on the site of 400 tourist beds with the loss of 150 jobs,a gym and pool - all used by locals.

Anyone seen the Tesco handout?

Has anyone seen the Tesco handout qasking people to write in with their support for "a supermarket" in Seaton? Some people seem to have received one and others don't.

I have not seen it. The distribution may be directed only to tesco card holders or other possible supporters. Sounds fishy to me and probably especially designed to give a sound bite for PR dogs. Interesting also that all quotes seem to be from the same person.

I did hear about this and it apparently seemed like a rather last ditch plea for some support, possibly due to the opposition they have received. Hopefully they are growing more desperate by the day and this plan, which was environmentally, socially and economically poorly thought out, will be consigned to distant memory.

A resident passed me a copy.
It seems to come direct from Tesco, not PR Dogs. Why keep dogs & bark yourself?
The last paragraph states "I am Robert Bignold the Regional Property Director.." and ends with "If you would like to contact me please e-mail me at Seatonregeneration@uk.tesco.com "

Hmmm what a good idea.

I suspect the letters have gone to those who expressed some support on their open day. Despite Tesco's claims there do not seem to be many of them as there are few letters of support on the planning website.

No news of an application from Sainsburys - so they have given up too?
