Stand Up For Seaton (SU4S)

Community Action for Seaton's Regeneration Area, 80% owned by Tesco - a floodplain on a World Heritage site bordered by nature reserves, tidal river, the sea and the unspoilt town. SU4S is a state of mind - no members, no structure, no politics. SU4S has objected to 2 planning applications by Tesco, including one for a massive superstore/dot com distribution centre which led to the recent closure on the site of 400 tourist beds with the loss of 150 jobs,a gym and pool - all used by locals.

How Eco is an Eco-town?

Developers are proposing to redevelop an old army camp in Warwickshire, using zero carbon footprint as the criteria....locals are happy? Wrong, they have a problem with what appears to be a lack of sustainability, infrastructure and the new residents having to drive to get anywhere.

And yes that is a councillor, obviously not prejudicing her position...

I do keep harping on about this, but WHERE ARE THE JOBS FOR ALL THE NEW PEOPLE who might come to live in the 600+ homes on the regeneration site and the 1000+ extra homes Seaton is supposed to be providing after that? Perhaps 3,000 more people, several hundred children and NO JOBS.

There is a limit to how many people a Tesco can employ (and how many people want to work in a Tesco come to that).

Anyone business with any sense is going to base itself around the Cranbrook area if it comes to East Devon - good links to Exeter, near the airport, near the M5, new rail link, etc. etc. Who is going to want to put a business 25 miles out in nowhere?

Joined up thinking, people.
