Stand Up For Seaton (SU4S)

Community Action for Seaton's Regeneration Area, 80% owned by Tesco - a floodplain on a World Heritage site bordered by nature reserves, tidal river, the sea and the unspoilt town. SU4S is a state of mind - no members, no structure, no politics. SU4S has objected to 2 planning applications by Tesco, including one for a massive superstore/dot com distribution centre which led to the recent closure on the site of 400 tourist beds with the loss of 150 jobs,a gym and pool - all used by locals.

Who is misinforming whom?

In today's View from Seaton, the agent for the developer says: "Unfortunately, there has been a lot of misinformation circulating in the public domain which has been factually incorrect. We hope, now, that Seaton residents will form their opinions of the scheme based on what we are actually proposing."

You bet your life we will, Mr Dinham.

And, if you are reading this (which I know you do) perhaps you would like to put your own comment here about exactly what this "misinformation" is because I sure don't know but would love to be put right by you.

We are basing our information on the East Devon Local Plan, the Development Brief and your illustrative master plan. What are you basing your information on? I promise to publish your reply in full.

Certainly not public feedback from people in Seaton. Anyone here been asked their opinion by Liatris recently - or at all?

Correction: a week AFTER the developer's exhibition I was phoned by a market research company to ask where I did my DIY shopping ... Now, I wonder why they did that?

For those of you who might wish to correspond with Mr Dinham may I repeat his contact details:

I read this too, and laughed at the comments made by this man.

If they have such a great plan - which they are implying they've changed since the "master plan" then why don't they show us it?

If they value our opinion (what a joke!) then why didn't they show us the new plan and ask out opinion again?

Hmm could it be because they know we'll not like the loss of all our facilities.

I challenge them now - show us the new "master plan" BEFORE you put in planning permission.....if you value our opinion.

What language is this man speaking? If we get the same plan we saw ages ago it means they haven't listened to a word anyone has said and are treating us like idiots.

If we get a different plan - either it will be better or worse for us. If worse, yes, they definitely are treating us like idiots, if better - then who will that be down to? They will say they meant to change it anyway but who is going to believe that as why didn't they give us the right plan in the first place. Keep up the good work!

Mr Dinham is obviously ecstatic at the extended deal he now has with eddc, before, not only was he working within the confines of a "comprehensive" plan (and the masterplan blithely ignored it anyway),he was facing public outcry at the seventies style shed and street blandness he was peddling. He now finds he's doing deals to contribute to an entirely different project and he can promise a planning application that will have "improved community and tourism facilities"...I don't want to sound cynical Terry, but your first "public consultation" was a joke, now you're saying these things will happen?

Like the previous contributors, if you really mean all that, you'll put the revision up for public consultation first, then there will be no "misinformation" from some un-named source, perhaps you'd enlighten us on that one as well...you're not exactly paid to be "honest injun" so why bother trying to convince otherwise?

As Mandy Rice-Davis said (look her up) - well, he would, wouldn't he.

Terry Dinham is being paid to put the best slant on this that he can, let's not forget that.

This is a late posting, but now that the planning application is in - can anyone tell me if I have misinformed anyone?
